Coaster and Earring mini-projects (Gifts)

Project Description: This gallery collects mini personal projects of making coasters and earrings to give to loved ones over the years.

For coasters, I initially traced images and had stepped designs so I could change colors between layers. Eventually, my process improved. I have found tools that can convert logos to SVGs for direct sketch importing, and I’ve learned more about tweaking gcode so that I can splice code segments together to print flat designs by changing colors in the first layer.

For earrings, my process typically involves some sort of personal touch so I’m not just printing a file from online as a gift. This can range from painting (see the frogs) to splicing a variety of models together to make something new (see scythes or spiders)

Here’s a more recent set of coasters given as high school graduation gifts

Here are some old renders of coasters given as gifts a long time ago

Here are some earrings that I printed and painted. I tweaked one or two of the meshes for better printing or different looks

These two images show holiday earrings I’ve made as gifts

I modeled the Purdue Pete earrings, using image-to-SVG tools. The planes were found online and painted.
