Julius Caesar Knife Block

Project Description: This was a functional personal project I did Summer 2022 since I didn’t want my new set of knives to just be stored loose in a drawer. I started with a model of a Julius Caesar bust scanned and shared by a museum. Then, I modeled enveloped representing the knives. I took the bust into Meshmixer and began playing with the scaling and locations of knife slots, which I eventually subtracted from the model. I had to print the bust in two pieces, so I deliberately made one of the holes intersect the slice in the neck to be able to place a “key” of sorts to keep things aligned while gluing the two parts together.

Software Used: Inventor, Meshmixer

Here’s the final product!
